Guido Vergouwen is a partner at the firm. He has extensive experience in (international) corporate and M&A related litigation, with his main focus on disputes between shareholders, family companies, failed negotiations and takeover disputes.

Before joining the firm, Guido was partner at a leading Dutch law firm. Being an experienced M&A negotiator for over 10 years, he shifted focus to takeover disputes and failed negotiations as co-head of the firm’s (then) newly formed specialized litigation team.

As a corporate litigator, Guido has represented a wide range of shareholders, families and corporates in court over the last 14 years, and has acted as a trusted advisor of various (supervisory) boards. Guido is both nationally and internationally recognized for his responsiveness, strategic insight and courtroom presence.

Since 2010, Guido has been teaching corporate law at Nyenrode University. He publishes regularly in one of the main jurisprudence journals and is co-author of the book “Garanties in de Rechtspraktijk” (representations and warranties in legal practice). Guido is president of the Dutch branch and board member of the papal foundation ACN International.


Representative cases

Represented a Hungarian trade company in an expedited appeal at the Amsterdam Court of Appeal (turbo spoedappèl) overruling a disadvantageous verdict within several days.

Represented the US Upper Deck Group in international litigation, resulting in a positive verdict and several settlements, both in the US as well as in Europe.

Represented an international group of gas trading companies in international ICC arbitration resulting in a EUR 20 million award and recovery.

Assisted various Dutch clients (a hospital, university and an international energy company) in/after forensic investigations, resulting in recovery of a claim for compensation of losses and damages.

Coordinating legal proceedings in eight European countries for an international group of clients in complex litigation and recovery proceedings.

Represented a main shareholder of a building company in corporate litigation at the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeal

Represented a listed construction company in summary proceedings relating to failed negotiations against a group of supermarkets.

Represented an accounting and tax firm in defence of a professional liability claim, resulting in the denial of a EUR 10 million claim.

Represented the board of directors of an accounting firm in the Centurion liability case (collective action of investors).


Guido Vergouwen has registered the following legal practice areas in the Netherland’s Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister): Ondernemingsrecht (corporate law). Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
