Cécile Rouméas is counsel at Lindenbaum. She is a French born (trilingual) Dutch-qualified lawyer with extensive experience in managing, litigating, and resolving commercial & corporate disputes and collective actions (both in cross-border and domestic context). She is passionate about justice and ESG.

Cécile started her career at a top-tier law firm in the Netherlands, where she mainly represented financial institutions in a broad range of (commercial) disputes relating to inter alia the banks’ duty of care, financial products and services, fraud and data protection. After gaining in-house experience as a Legal Counsel for Belgium, the Netherlands and France at an international Fintech, Cécile joined an international plaintiff firm in the Netherlands, where she held multinationals responsible for the environmental disasters they caused abroad.

Besides having obtained a master in Public International Law in Leiden and one in Civil Law in Rotterdam, Cécile also studied in France at Lyon III for a semester. Cécile was admitted to the Amsterdam bar in 2015. In 2020 she completed the post-academic training ‘Corporations and Liability’ (Onderneming en aansprakelijkheid) at the Grotius academy.

Represented a group of individuals in a test case against a multinational petrochemical company for the tremors caused by their mining activities in Brazil.

Represented a foundation in a mass claim against a multinational petrochemical company for an oil spill in Peru.

Represented a foundation in a mass claim against a multinational mining company for the collapse of a tailings dam in Brazil.

Represented a group of individuals and an association in a mass claim against a multinational aluminum and bauxite company for the life ending health risks caused to the local population.

Represented Dutch banks in commercial disputes with corporate clients in matters relating to financial products and services.

Represented a Dutch bank in a French bankruptcy proceedings,

Represented two large insurance companies in settlement negotiations with French insurance companies.
